COMMON QUESTIONS

matter.

Choose a topic below. If your question isn’t here, call (813) 975-2800 and ask for the program coordinator.

How do I join?

Request enrollment online or call (813) 975-2800. A coordinator will call you, arrange your consultation with Dr. Marc Bloom, and walk you through the membership agreement before any payment is made. See how enrollment works

What does membership include?

The $1,000 yearly membership is paid once a year. It includes four tests: an echocardiogram, a carotid ultrasound, an exercise stress test, and an aortic aneurysm screening. Each is done only if it is right for you. Visits are billed separately at $100 each. Testing frequency and any additional services are explained before you join.

Will insurance cover it?

Membership is cash-pay: the practice does not bill insurance for the membership, visits, or included assessments. Bloodwork ordered by your cardiologist may be billed to your insurance. Please keep your health insurance for hospital care, emergencies, medications, and services outside the program. As a self-pay patient, you also have the right to a written Good Faith Estimate of costs before care. Learn about your rights.

Can I cancel my membership?

Either you or the practice may end the agreement with 30 days’ written notice. You have 14 days after you join to change your mind and get a full refund. After that, the yearly fee is not refundable, because it holds your doctor’s time and pays for your included tests. There are a few exceptions, such as moving away or a serious illness. They are listed in the membership agreement.

Is this concierge medicine?

It is a focused cardiovascular prevention membership within Tampa Cardiovascular Associates. It does not replace your primary care doctor. It adds a long-term plan for your heart and blood vessels, with clear yearly and per-visit prices.

I’m already a TCA patient. Can I join?

Yes. Current Tampa Cardiovascular Associates patients can move into the program. Your records are already here, and your transition is coordinated with your current TCA cardiologist.

Who will be my doctor?

Every member begins with a personal consultation with Marc Bloom, MD, the program’s Medical Director. After that, your care may continue with Dr. Bloom, or you can choose, or be matched with, one of the program’s cardiologists based on your needs. You will know who your physician is, and how to reach them, before your first comprehensive visit. Meet the team

How is my privacy protected?

Your medical records are protected under HIPAA and shared only with the clinicians involved in your care or with your written authorization. Members communicate through secure messaging, and family members or assistants are involved only with your permission. Privacy and discretion

How is this different from seeing my regular cardiologist?

A routine visit usually addresses a specific problem. The program looks at the whole picture: cholesterol, blood pressure, activity, weight, and how you are feeling. You get one plan, regular follow-up, and four included heart tests.

What happens at the first visit?

Your first visit is a consultation with Dr. Marc Bloom. He goes over your health history, medicines, recent results, activity, goals, and well-being. He also explains which included tests are right for you. Together you agree on priorities, and you receive your Personal Cardiometabolic Plan, a personal report of everything you discussed. See what the consultation covers.

What should I bring to my first visit?
  • Your current medication list
  • Recent laboratory results, if available
  • Home blood-pressure readings, if monitored
  • Prior cardiac, vascular, or diabetes records
  • Your questions, activity history, and goals

Call the practice for secure instructions before sharing records. Use the printable preparation checklist.

Can I have visits by video?

When appropriate, follow-up visits can take place by secure video through healow TeleVisits, which helps if you spend part of the year away. Video visits generally require you to be in Florida, or another state where your physician is licensed, at the time of the visit. Assessments and some visits need to be in person.

Where do I view my records or pay a bill?

Tampa Cardiovascular Associates patients use the secure healow (eClinicalWorks) patient portal to view their chart and test results, message the practice, and pay bills. Open the patient portal or make a payment. New patients can complete registration forms online before their first visit: new patient forms. If you need help with your login, call (813) 975-2800.

How do I reach my care team?

Before enrollment, you can call, text, or email the program. Members also receive secure messaging through the healow app for questions about their care. Ways to stay connected

Can I keep my current doctors? Do I need a referral?

Yes, you keep your current physicians; the program coordinates with them. A referral is not required to ask about the program. You or your physician can contact Tampa Cardiovascular Associates directly.

What if I need urgent or emergency care?

For a medical emergency, call 911. The program is not an emergency service. After-hours arrangements will be explained before you join.

What does “cardiometabolic” mean?

It describes how your heart and blood vessels and your metabolism (blood sugar, weight, cholesterol, and the kidneys and liver) affect one another. These conditions often occur together and speed up heart disease, so the program treats them as one connected system. Learn more

Are the four principles WHO guidelines?

The four principles are the program’s own framework. The care draws on WHO advice on heart risk, exercise, weight, and mental health. WHO does not endorse the program. View the WHO sources

I’m a physician. How do I refer a patient?

Call (813) 975-2800 and ask for the program coordinator. The program suits patients with heart or blood-vessel disease, hard-to-control cholesterol or blood pressure, cardiometabolic risk, or a need for long-term prevention. You remain the patient’s physician, and we coordinate care with you.

Still have a question?

A coordinator can walk you through membership, the assessments, and whether the program fits your needs.
